Users

Library information

The library user can orally request and ask over the phone to receive general information about:

  • The history, the status and the function of the Library
  • The types of services offered by the Library and the terms of use
  • Information resources available in the Library
  • The content and the organization of the book and non-book materials and the terms of use of them
  • Organization of the library network in the Republic of Macedonia

Using of the Library services can be individual and collective.

Individual user can be any citizen of the Republic of Macedonia or foreign citizen who is over 16 years old.

For obtaining the individual user status is needed:

The users are entitled to use the library material from the general library stock only in the premises of the Library as follows: in the general reading room, in the University Reading Room and in the individual reading rooms.

The inter-library loans is a library activity that allows usage of documents from other libraries. The Library performs inter-library loaning of library material from:

  • Its stocks on demand of other domestic and foreign libraries
  • Stocks of domestic and foreign libraries for the needs of its users

In the University Reading Room the users can independently and at their own choice use academic textbooks, proceedings of meetings, manuals, publications of the Universities and of other scientific institutions in the Republic of Macedonia, general and specialized encyclopedias, lexicons, dictionaries (interpretive, bilingual, multilingual and terminological), atlases, almanacs, guidebooks etc.; monographs, latest issues of serial publications and secondary/tertiary publications in the field of librarianship and information science; selection of daily, weekly and monthly press of Macedonian production, etc.

The German reading room, opened in the late 1994 in the National and University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Skopje, is one of the 57 reading rooms, which from 1992 were opened by the initiative of the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its activity and successful development are based on the mutual partnership of the host library and the Goethe Institute.

The Confucius Institute at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje was established by a Decision adopted by the University Senate in accordance with the signed Аgreement between Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), in cooperation with the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics from Chengdu, PRC. Confucius Institute is located on the first floor of the National and University Library "St. Clement of Ohrid" in Skopje, to the left of the main entrance. The Institute was officially opened on September 3, 2013.
